We’re losing ground on ending hunger

Oct 16, 2022 – The irony that World Food Day, on 16 Oct, follows Hunger Awareness Month in Sept. Ending hunger by 2030 is goal #2 for UN’s Sustainable Development goals, but we are way off track. At current rates of progress, 47 countries in Africa and South Asia are unlikely to meet the goal of ending hunger in eight years’ time. While COVID-19 and climate change are large contributors to the problem, military and political conflict is another major driver for this issue. If humanity fails in this collective fight against ending hunger, this would be a huge tragedy, and worse, self-inflicted.
