Vietnam’s digital transformation vision

Vietnam’s Internet economy will be worth about US$ 52 billion by 2025, with its digital economy projected to grow 29% between 2020 and 2025.

The National Digital Transformation Programme was released in 2021. It aims to accelerate digital transformation through changes in awareness, enterprise strategies, and incentives by 2030. The Programme targets businesses, cooperatives and business households that want to digitalise.

However, the nation faces several challenges. Many businesses lost revenue during the Covid-19 pandemic, and this means less funds for digitalisation. Surveys have shown that more than half of Vietnamese companies find changing business habits and practices difficult, as not all employees are willing to adapt. Many staff do not have the skills and knowledge needed to bring about the transformation.

How can Vietnam enhance its people’s digital skills to drive the growth of its digital economy?
