Smart Homes to grow in Indonesia

20 September 2021

Spire shares insights on the appeal of Smart Home technology for the Millennials and Gen Z with Techno Business.

The concept of Smart Homes is relatively new in Indonesia, having being developed there in the last 4 to 5 years. While Indonesia has high Internet penetration, the adoption of Smart Home technology has been low. One of the reasons for this is the high price factor.

The adoption of this technology is expected to pick up as more Millennials and Generation Z become homeowners. Building careers and leading busy lives, they are considered to be more sensitive to “comfort”. The Millennials and Gen Z are more interested in advanced technology. They are also more environmentally conscious about reducing their carbon footprint. Another appealing advantage of Smart Home technology is its flexibility as a monitoring device for caregivers.

The development of 5G networks in Indonesia will improve connectivity and allow more connected devices to run automatically, enhancing the Smart Home ecosystem. The Covid-19 pandemic has also strengthened the development of Smart Home technology adoption in Indonesia.
