iPads for babysitting?

More young mothers are using iPads to babysit their toddlers, as more applications are targeted at toddlers. This trend has sparked a debate among child-development experts:

Proposition

Allows the children to make connections between the written and spoken language; helping them to understand and learn better.
Tired working parents can have a book read more easily.

Opposition

Feels that the time spent on iPads would make children antisocial.
Believes that children’s health would be adversely affected, especially their eyesight.

The growth and impact of this trend on pre-school education are ultimately dependent on a host of factors – primarily, government regulations and acceptability of parents/ teacher groups on iPads usage for this young segment.
