Research In Motion’s commitment to the Indonesia market
Research In Motion (RIM) has pledged its long-term commitment to the Indonesian market. Jeffrey Bahar, Deputy CEO of Spire Research and Consulting, was invited to comment on the economic and social significance of BlackBerry in Indonesia.
Research In Motion (RIM), a global leader in wireless innovation that revolutionized the mobile industry with the introduction of the BlackBerry® in 1999, has pledged to provide a safe, comfortable and dependable communication channel for its customers in Indonesia. It also committed itself to continuous innovations and investments in the country.
RIM had generated the following benefits in Indonesia since it established itself in the country:
BlackBerry has also enabled millions of Indonesians to chat and share their experiences using the BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) application. Aside from its social applications, this has allowed many businesspeople to increase the efficiency of their operations.
Jeffrey Bahar, Deputy CEO of Spire Research and Consulting, was quoted in an article published in both Swa Magazine Indonesia and Tribun News Indonesia, as saying, “BlackBerry is a key technology for Indonesia. It plays an important role in enabling millions of users to communicate and also do business effectively and efficiently. The ecosystem around BlackBerry not only provides thousands of jobs within the authorized BlackBerry distributors and retailers; but also within the developer community, where both innovative Indonesian businesses and jobs have been created.”
BlackBerry has been of great help to the non-profit sector too. Nia Umar, official spokesperson of Asosiasi Ibu Menyusui (AIMI), a breastfeeding mothers support group and NGO, said that the group used Blackberry to share knowledge, arrange meetings and even to communicate with the media. She added, “Chatting via BBM can comfort young mothers and help them through breastfeeding. This is imperative for our success.”
