Post-pandemic work culture

How will work-from-home and social distancing at work affect office design and culture in the post-pandemic world? Leon Perera, Chief Executive Officer of Spire Research and Consulting shared his insights in The Business Times – Singapore.

It is unlikely that work-from-home would replace working in the office completely as some activities cannot be performed from home. Socio-economic inequality also influences the ability and inclination of people to work from home.

Leon highlighted that the post-Covid period will see the establishment of a different balance between working in the office and working from home, with neither being eliminated.

Larger firms may introduce larger meeting rooms to allow appropriate distancing and introduce practices like staggered work and lunch hours. Start-ups and smaller firms that cannot afford such practices are likely to encourage their employees to work from home more.
