Spire Deputy CEO, Jeffrey Bahar, shared his insights on the growth and business prospects of Indonesia’s logistics sector at the Global Supply Chain Council’s (GSCC) recent E-Commerce Operations Asia Summit 2021.

Pool of Opportunities in Indonesia’s Logistics Sector

Jeffrey joined Asia’s E- Commerce operations experts at the GSCC’s virtual summit, and presented an overview of Indonesia’s last mile delivery service market and industry trends on 16 September 2021.

The pandemic has positively impacted contactless shopping and faster delivery options, leading to the rise in demand for instant and same day delivery. Large E-Commerce players have identified the last mile delivery service as a key differentiator in a competitive E-Commerce market in Indonesia. Indonesia’s logistics market is valued at US$ 220 billion in 2020.

Jeffrey also highlighted some of the challenges faced by logistics service providers, such as wrong address, cash on delivery, lack of warehouses, and logistics costs. Currently, Indonesia’s last mile delivery sector is fragmented and without any dominant players. By addressing the challenges and providing new features to consumers, the growth opportunities for E-Commerce and digital payments are enormous.
