Indonesia’s F&B industry adopts new dynamic strategies to cope with Covid-19

In its recent live webinar, Spire revealed new strategies adopted by Indonesia’s Food and Beverage (F&B) businesses including E-commerce as a food distribution channel and direct online selling.

The webinar, Indonesia’s F&B Industry Adapts and Grows during Covid-19, was moderated by Indah Muliana, Spire’s Director. The panel comprised Spire’s Deputy CEO Jeffrey Bahar and Advisor Yogi Priyantoro, Peter Halim of PT.INDO Bangi Kopitiam, Oyashi Otiara of Thastea Indonesia, and Shanice Bravely of Oeybites.

Jeffrey talked about the changing F&B market landscape. He shared that the F&B industry contributes 41% to Indonesia’s creative economy and is expected to grow 15% annually between 2020 and 2024. Yogi added that the strategies adopted by businesses include going online and introducing family size packaging to improve sales.

The panel discussion explored how Indonesia’s F&B industry is meeting the challenges by changing their business strategies. The panelists agreed that consumers are willing to pay more for packaging and delivery because hygiene and safety have become a priority. They also discussed online marketing platforms, such as Instagram.
