April 7, 2023 – Seventy-five years ago, the World Health Organisation was founded to coordinate the global fight against dangerous diseases. Since then, the world has faced numerous public health challenges. Through science, coordination and international cooperation, we have risen to these threats by, for example, tackling polio and smallpox, and implementing national vaccination programmes. 

As one world, we have emerged stronger from the global Covid-19 pandemic, but it is a stark reminder that threats to global health persist. On this World Health Day, let’s continue to work together for public health through science, solutions and solidarity.
