Growing Music Streaming Industry in Indonesia

The pandemic has changed the face of the entertainment industry and shifted the consumption of audio entertainment online. Music streaming apps with features such as personalised playlists and artist information have won Gen Z and Millennials over. The connectedness of these music streaming apps to social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok further boosted their appeal.
Based on data from the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), in 2017 alone there were 46.9 million Indonesians who listened to music online via streaming application services. Some examples of local and international music streaming providers popular in Indonesia include Spotify, YouTube Music, Joox, SoundCloud, and Langit Musik.
